STUDENTS from Devizes School dressed up the nines when they celebrated in style at the Year 11 prom on Friday night.

As usual the pupils celebrated ending their exams by putting on their best bib and tucker and arriving in an array of vehicles for the special night out at Cumberwell Park, Bradford on Avon.

One group of girls caused a stir by arriving on a fire engine while a number of teenage boys chose sports cars as their preferred means of travel.

Staff were not to be outdone in the style stakes and also dressed to impress.

Head of Year 11 Vicky Mackay said: "Prom was quite simply fantastic. Year 11 were a credit to the school."

Publicity officer Karen Sims was equally impressed. She said: ""It was a fabulous evening of good humour and fun with all present enjoying a fantastic atmosphere of celebration. Put simply, it was the perfect finale to mark the end of the exams and hard work of this year."

The teenagers will now have a few weeks to relax or take on holiday jobs before the GCSE results are announced in August. Many will then return to the sixth form while others go on to college or apprenticeships.
