TROWBRIDGE will honour its military heroes this weekend for the return of the annual Armed Forces Day.

Wiltshire Armed Forces and Veterans celebrations will get underway on Saturday at Trowbridge Park from 10am to commemorate the service of men and women in the British Armed Forces.

The Southern Jacobites on Bandstand will begin the opening ceremony at 10am on the top field and they will be followed by the likes of the Berkeley Bluebirds, the Warminster Military Wives Choir, the Wessex Military Band and the Southern Jacobites among others.

At 11.30am on Saturday, at the bottom field, there will be a bomb disposal display, followed by a Spitfire Engine Run at midday, a flight from a heavy-lift Chinook helicopter and then a skirmish display will take place at 1pm, before the anti-aircraft and multi-purpose autocannon, the Bofors Gun, will be fired at 3.15pm and at 3.45pm there will be a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire Flypast too.

The day after another skirmish set up is planned for 11am on the bottom field, along with another Spitfire Engine Run, then on the top field there is a Not Forgotten Association Concert and a Parade of Standards through the town.

At 2.45pm, the Drumhead Service Prince of Wales Band will play and at some point during the day there will also be a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Dakota Flypast.

All displays and timings, which are free, are subject to change without notice.
