WILTSHIRE College has added another string to its bow after it received a top quality mark for its university level courses in a new ranking system published yesterday (June 21).

In the first set of the Teaching Excellence Framework, which was organised by the previous government to assess teaching quality in universities, the college was one of a few further education colleges across the country to submit and entry into the system. Only 106 out of more than 300 of those colleges have been awarded a rating with bronze meaning that the college has met national standards.

Amanda Burnside, principal and chief executive at Wiltshire College, said: “We are delighted to have achieved Bronze status for our higher education teaching and to be one of very few colleges in the region to have achieved the TEF mark which provides national recognition and quality assurance of our higher level courses.”

The judging panel praised the college for student participation in real work projects, the high level of feedback given to students and the quality of the learning technology hubs and dedicated space for students.
