A CHIPPENHAM man was arrested in Bath city centre on Tuesday evening on suspicion of grooming an underage girl.
The 38-year-old was confronted by a 'paedophile hunter' group after he allegedly arranged to meet with what he thought was a 14-year-old girl.
However, he was instead confronted by a member of the Western Hunters group, which aims to catch online sexual predators before they can act.
Avon and Somerset police arrived at Stall Street around 5.30pm on Tuesday and arrested the man.
The case was then transferred to Wiltshire Police, who confirmed that the man was arrested on suspicion of arranging to facilitate a child sexual offence.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “A 38-year-old man from the Chippenham area has been released under investigation while our enquires continue.
“We are unable to comment further or give more information on this case while the police investigation is ongoing.”
