THE publican of an eighteenth century coach house turned pub nestled under the white horse in Cherhill has raised a glass to pub operator Punch after their £225,000 refurbishment was completed last week.

Lance Culver toasted the investors and showed Calne mayor Councillor Tony Trotman around the newly refurbished Black Horse pub on Friday, May 26, which has been restored back to is former glory.

“The Black Horse is a beautiful Georgian building which needed updating," Mr Culver, who has been at The Black Horse since last December, said. "The Punch design team came up with a great new scheme to make the most of the pub’s traditional features such as beams and fireplaces and created a comfortable, relaxed space.

"I don't think the pub has been looked at for a number of years so it was the right time to invest some money and I am looking forward to seeing what our customers think of the changes."

The pub now offers a new menu comprising of British deli boards, tagines, fresh fish of the day and other unusual pub dishes.

Jason Cousins, development and training manager for Punch, said: “The Black Horse looks great. Lance and his team are full of enthusiasm and have some great ideas for putting the pub a step ahead of the rest. I’m looking forward to supporting Lance with his new venture and watching the pub thrive.”
