YOUNG runner Joseph Fallon had special reason for showing a clean pair of heels to his classmates when a village primary school held its own version of the Race For Life.
Joseph, nine, was overall winner of the event at Bishops Cannings, near Devizes and was running in memory of his grandfather and aunt who both died of cancer.
Every child at the school aged from four to 11 took part in the race on Friday held at the end of the sports day.
Associate priest The Rev Beth Brown, who lives in the vicarage in Bishops Cannings, joined parents, staff and children on the mile long jog around the village.
School administrator Rose Rossi said: "All 207 children from reception to Year 6 took part. They ran, walked or jogged a mile through the village.
"A lot of our neighbours came out to cheer everyone on and commented on what a good idea it was to involve the whole school community in such a worthwhile event."
It was the second time the school has staged a Race For Life and now hopes it will become a regular feature at the end of sports day.
The first ten runners back to the school earned points for their sports day team which added to the excitement by giving and extra competitive element
All the children took home a sign for their backs so they could show who they were supporting by doing the run.
So far £500 has been raised for Cancer Research.
