HEAD of Devizes sixth form Glyn Evans has helped countless students celebrate at their leavers proms but the one on Friday had special meaning as he too is leaving at the end of the summer term.

Mr Evans, who has led the sixth form since 2001, was given a day to remember as the Year 13s spent the day in the Evans Bootcamp. The sun shone as they took part in a variety of games and challenges dressed in combat gear.

In the evening they swapped their camouflage clothes for dresses and suits as the leavers prom was held at Cleeve House, Seend.

Deputy head of sixth form Clare Dale, who takes over as from Mr Evans from September, said: "'It's always a bittersweet moment saying good bye to our year 13s. We are fantastically excited for them and yet sad to see them go.

"All signs point to them achieving some really excellent and well deserved A Level results in the summer and we know they will throw themselves into their next adventures out there in the big bad world.

"It's similarly a big year for the school as we say goodbye to Mr Evans who has led the sixth form since 2001. He leaves an enormous legacy behind him and giant shoes to fill. He has been the very best kind of teacher, leader, mentor and rock and the impact he has had on countless year groups of students and staff members is immeasurable really.

"It's humbling to take up his mantle and both I and the whole school community salute him for all that he is, and all that he

has done."
