A LUCKY admin assistant in Chippenham said she couldn't believe her eyes when she saw she had won £1,000 on the Postcode Lottery on Monday and had to convince members of her family several times that it was not a scam.

Carol Wint of Oaklands, who works at Malmesbury Primary Care Centre, said she thought her eyes were playing tricks on her and her husband Dave when their postcode SN15 1RH was chosen at random for a cash prize on Monday night's draw.

"I couldn't believe it," the 64-year-old said. "I went online about 11.30pm on Monday night just before I was going to bed and I saw the Postcode Lottery checker and thought that can't be right.

"You know when you think your eyes are playing tricks on you? It was wrong it had to be but I checked it three of four times and I shouted out and woke my hubby up and he asked: "are you sure it's not a scam?"

"I then messaged my son Gordon on Facebook because I just had to tell someone and he also asked if it was a scam but then he checked it himself. You would have thought we had won a million pounds the way we reaction but it it is a lot of money for us."

The couple, who have been married for 43 years, said they will share some of the money with their children Gordon and Cheryl and their four grandchildren, Kieran, Alyssa, Alex and Emelia before enjoying their annual trip to Butlins next week.

"Since we started playing a couple of years ago we have won a tenner and now this," Mrs Wint added. "I would recommend anyone to do it because 30 per cent goes to charity anyway.

"I couldn't believe it and I still can't believe it and Dave keeps asking me if it's legitimate. These sort of things never happen to us - but I guess I can't say that anymore!"

Two other residents in Oaklands also won £2,000 and £1,000 on Monday night.
