A PUB in the centre of Calne has reached the pinnacle of its industry after they were named in the top ten per cent of hotels and restaurants nationwide by being awarded two AA rosettes.

The Lansdowne Strand Hotel, which recently underwent a major refurbishment, was awarded the AA rosettes for the quality of their food and restaurant service championed by landlords Anna and Joel Lear.

"We’re thrilled to have been awarded 2 AA rosettes," Joel Lear said. "It’s a fantastic achievement for the team and great to get a nationally recognised accolade for the Lansdowne Strand. It’s a career highlight for me personally and reflects the quality not just of our menu but how we present and serve it too.

"We are now directing the Lansdowne Strand to a new level which we hope both residents of Calne and visitors to the town will enjoy."

The hotel and pub, which is owned by Arkell's Brewery, has proved popular with diners in the town after their new menus were created to incorporate Calne's heritage using ingredients from producers in a 20-mile radius.

"We support local producers, especially as there are some truly fantastic Wiltshire butchers, bakeries and farms which deserve wider recognition," Mr Lear added.
