A TEN-year-old Chippenham boy has brought his imagination to life after his own bedtime story won a national competition and has been turned into a book for people visiting Legoland.

Joseph Parkes and his eight-year-old brother, Oli, entered the bedtime story writing competition.

His winning story features himself on a mission to help a magical injured dragon with the aid of a castle wizard.

The story will now be available in every room of the new Castle Hotel, featuring 61 knight and wizard-themed rooms, which will open at the Windsor resort on July 1.

“I was so excited when I found out my story had won the competition. I jumped around the house and couldn’t get to sleep that night,” said Joseph.

“I can’t believe my story is being made into a real-life book for everyone to read at Legoland.

“I hope the children who read it like the friendly dragon and wizard character as much as I do.

“I loved getting a sneak peek of the new bedrooms; my favourite part was the glowing potion bottles in the Wizard’s room and the stained glass window in the Knight’s room.”

His family including mum and dad, Sarah and Jeremy, and two brothers were also able to visit Legoland as part of the prize and see his published work.

Mr Parkes said: “He’s really keen on writing and loves reading books and he has lots of ideas.

“I think he comes up with the ideas largely from his own imagination, he enjoys merging different books and elements of bits and pieces together.”
