68 (WESTBURY) Squadron ATC have been presented with the Royal Air Forces Association Adoption Certificate by Air Vice Marshal Martin Clark CB RAF (Retired), President of the Trowbridge & West Wiltshire branch. The Officer Commanding, Flight Lieutenant John Gillespie RAF VR(T), accepted the certificate on behalf of the squadron before the cadets paraded in front of parents, civilian committee members and Squadron staff.

The adoption forms a link between the youngsters of today and ex-servicemen and woman.

Among the guests was Cllr Gordon King, Deputy Mayor of Westbury, who was an Air Cadet at the Westbury Squadron many years ago. He said the evening brought back many pleasant memories and it was most satisfying to witness the growing success of the squadron.

The opportunity was taken by AVM Clark to present certificates to cadets for their recent academic achievements, before he chatted to cadets and their parents to tell them about the Royal Air Force of today and to answer their questions. He also met the civilian committee and staff and talked to them about their various volunteer rolesin support of the unit. He thanked them for their invaluable work which contributed to the success of the squadron training programme.

68 Squadron parade on Wednesday and Friday evenings between 7-9.30pm at the Cadet Centre, West End Road, Westbury. The Trowbridge & West Wiltshire Branch of RAFA meet at 7.30pm on the third Tuesday of each month at the Lovemead House, Roundstone Street, Trowbridge.
