HUNDREDS of people will be cheered off from Bishops Cannings on Saturday for the Walk Of Life by Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis.

Mr Eavis is a major supporter of The Forever Friends Appeal at Bath's Royal United Hospital and he will be at The Crown pub in the village for the start of the 26.2 mile walk at 8am.

A walk is held each year in memory of Vanessa Kyte from Rudge, near Trowbridge, died in 2007 seven years after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Emily Lynch from the appeal said: "We are so grateful to everyone across Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire for supporting the 2017 Walk of Life and making it a sold out event. We’re very excited for Saturday’s event and can’t wait to congratulate our walkers when they reach the finish line in Bath. Last year’s event raised over £40,000 to help transform care for patients at the RUH and we hope to beat this total in 2017."

Walkers will break for lunch in Bradford on Avon at about 12.30pm.
