THREE people suffered minor injuries after the car they were travelling in crashed on the A4 today.
At around 2.10pm, police, a fire crew from Marlborough and South West Ambulance Service raced to the scene near Silbury Hill.
The passengers of an Audi were treated at the scene and at 3.10pm the A4 road at Beckhampton was closed right up to the junction for Avebury, by West Kennet, so the emergency services could clear the debris.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: "Two people were found to be injured at the scene and were dealt with by paramedics.
"It was initially thought that the driver had decamped and fled the scene and searches were carried out, however, this is now not believed to be the case.
"The A4 from Beckhampton roundabout towards Marlborough has been closed in both directions since 3.10pm while police deal with an incident following a single-vehicle collision on the A4.
"Enquiries are ongoing and the road remains closed during this time."
