CORSHAM will lose its last bank soon. The notice on Lloyds Bank states your options are still open and points out that they have branches nearby in Melksham, Chippenham and Bath.
There are many people, particularly the elderly, who do not bank online or via the telephone and many of us still want to bank in a more traditional way.
The Corsham branch has been very well managed and the staff are always helpful.
I have observed them sorting out difficult issues helping some of the more vulnerable customers in a very professional way.
What happens to these people now, clearly the senior management of Lloyds don’t care.
Corsham is a growing town, in the next few years we will have thousands more people living in the area, know no doubt the bank assumes that none of them will need to visit a branch.
Customers I have spoken to are horrified by this short-sighted decision, there was no consultation with them.
I feel very sorry for all the customers who will be affected
including those who started to
bank with Lloyds as Barclays, NatWest and HSBC all finally abandoned our town.
I sincerely hope that the employees who have served us so well
are not made redundant and I know they will continue with their excellent service right up to the end.
The management of Lloyds will no doubt not reconsider, but they really should. This is such a bad decision as this branch has been such a good advertisement for Lloyds and how banking should be inclusive for all.
