CHIPPENHAM MP Michelle Donelan has said it’s disappointing that someone sprayed graffiti on the front of her constituency office and fears that incidents like this could become more common.

The word ‘parasite’ was sprayed on the front of the building, in New Road, some time between 5.30-11.50pm on Friday. It was cleaned off the following morning.

Miss Donelan said: “It’s disappointing, we’ve had no problems in the whole two years that we have been there.

“If you don’t agree with someone’s view there’s no need to vandalise someone’s property just because of that.

“I found out that evening after someone walked past and saw it, but we do have CCTV so we are reviewing the footage to find the perpetrator.

“The whole reason why we have a shop is to make myself as an MP more accessible.”

The incident comes less than a month after graffiti was emblazoned across the outside of UKIP MEP Dr Julia Reid’s Chippenham office in Market Place.

“I’m not sure if attacks on constituency shops are becoming more common but it’s becoming more and more worrying since Jo Cox’s death,” added Miss Donelan.

“No matter your political views everyone has a right to a choice and democracy.”
