A MUM-of-two whose third child was stillborn is hoping to found a charity in her memory which will support other families going through the traumatic experience.

Hayley Williams was told everything was fine with her unborn daughter, Layla, but was left devastated to find her stillborn on May 10, 2015, three days over her due date.

“I was fine all the way through and even went to the hospital the day before just to be safe,” said the 28-year-old, mum to seven-year-old Hollie-Mae, and Riley, aged four.

“They told me everything was fine and I went into labour 24 hours later and I found out she had gone, it can happen that fast.

“It’s gone down as an unexplained death and it can and does happen a lot more than people realise.

“It was horrendous. I’ve never felt that pain before and you feel like the world has ended.

“For a month I didn’t leave the house but as time has gone on things do get better.”

Miss Williams, of Melksham, is now planning to hold a family sports day in Chippenham’s Monkton Park to raise money for SANDS, which also supports families after a stillbirth.

She hopes that by doing this she will one day be able to get Layla’s Butterflies registered as a charity in its own right, which would help families with the cost of a funeral.

“I’m hoping that it becomes something quite big so I can have a fund set aside,” added Miss Williams, who works as a hairdresser at Diamond Divas, in Eastern Avenue.

“Funerals are so expensive but I wanted to give her a proper send-off and my undertaker didn’t charge me a penny which was an unbelievable gesture.

“I want to help with funeral costs. No other charity out there does that, and it’s something that meant a lot to me.”

The fun day, which will take place on May 14 and begin at 11.30am, will be opened by gold medal winning Paralympic swimmer Stephanie Millward.

There will be a range of events, including a tug of war, fun run, egg and spoon race, local bands, bouncy castle and food stalls.
