POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a road rage incident where a white-van man tried to drag a fellow motorist out of their car in Chippenham.

The incident took place on Audley Road, when the 38-year-old victim attempted to turn left into Loyalty Street at 5pm on Tuesday (April 25).

The white-van man blocked the victim in with his vehicle, before getting out of the van, shouting, and trying to drag the man out of his car.

A passer-by came to the rescue of the victim, and it’s understood the victim and attacker know each other.

Detective sergeant Kate Martin, of Central CID, said: “We believe this to be an isolated incident and we are appealing for the man who came to the aid of the victim, and anyone else who was forced to stop on Audley Road as a result of this incident, to make contact with police.

“This was a frightening incident and I am keen to hear from any witnesses, regardless of how insignificant the information you have may seem.”

Anyone with information can call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
