BEST selling author Sebastian Faulks famed for his classic story Birdsong will be among the hottest tickets in town now that the box office has opened for this year's Devizes Arts Festival.

Mr Faulks will be at the Corn Exchange on June 2 from 8pm talking about his latest book Where My Heart Used To Beat which traces 20th century history through its main character psychiatrist Dr Robert Hendricks. Tickets cost £16.

On festival opening night June 1 centre stage at the Corn Exchange will be taken by comedian Matt Forde whose take on Brexit, the EU and NATO will be even more topical coming just days before the newly called general election. Tickets are £16.

Children are sure to be urging their parents to let them be in the audience for Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes at the Town Hall at both 1.30pm and 3.30pm. A family ticket for two children and two adults cost £28 or otherwise £10 per adult or £7 per child.

A spokesman for the festival said: "Spring is in the air, the daffodils are in full bloom, and the box office is now open for the Devizes Arts Festival. Tickets for all events can be purchased online or in person at the box office at Devizes Books. Popular events always sell out so book early to avoid disappointment.

"Two of the musical highlights of the festival are the fabulously-retro Spitfire Sisters, and Americana-legends, Danny and the Champions of the World."
