A GROUP that champions people who use health and social care services in Wiltshire is to celebrate its 25th anniversary in Devizes on Tuesday.

The Wellbeing Event in the Corn Exchange will mark the special anniversary of Wiltshire and Swindon Users Network.

The network was the first User led organisation in Wiltshire and one of the pioneering organisations in the country. It was formed by people who use health and social care services, to promote service user involvement in the planning, implementation and monitoring of those services.

With more than 650 members across Wiltshire, the organisation works with Wiltshire Council and the Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning group as well as other organisations to improve and monitor services.

Over 130 people are due to attend and the celebration event will mark the occasion by encouraging people to think about their own wellbeing. There will be plenty of opportunities for people to have a go at something they have not tried before. Workshops include Music, Poetry and a Mindfulness session, where people can learn a practical skill to overcome anxiety and stress.

Those attending will also have the opportunity to become a Dementia Friend.

Chairman Diane Gooch said: ‘I am very proud to be part of this unique and valued organisation as we celebrate our 25th birthday. Over these last 25 years, WSUN has been there, ensuring Wiltshire service users have been able to actively participate in improving services by ensuring their voices have been heard. It has been challenging at times and will I am sure continue to be, but with the continued support of our members and partners we look forward to the next 25 years."
