CELEBRATIONS broke out at Bradford on Avon company Eat Square after they scooped an award at the British Pie Awards this week.

Founder and chef of the pie business, Alex Joll, entered a gluten free steak and ale pie, against 1,500 other entries, and won the Bronze Medal at the prestigious national pie competition.

"It means a great deal to a rural business like ours to win at national level. We are up against a lot of very large well resourced companies so to have my steak and ale recipe recognised is fantastic," he said.

Eat Square are celebrating this by inviting the public to taste the award winning, and other, pies at events this week Devizes and Bradford on Avon, including one at the Wadworth Brewery Visitor Centre.

“I thought a great way to celebrate was to invite the public to come and try the pie for free at some of the local businesses we supply and join in our celebrations," added Mr Joll.

Each year the national pie competition is held in the most famous town for pies in the country, Melton Mobray.
