CHIPPENHAM MP Michelle Donelan was on hand to lay the official date brick of McCarthy and Stone’s second retirement living development in the town.

Located on Westmead Lane, Waterford Place will include 39 properties for people aged over 60-years-old and include one, two and three bedroom apartments.

Miss Donelan said: “The adapted homes that McCarthy and Stone are building in Chippenham town centre are hugely helpful in supporting older residents to live independently for far longer than would be possible in an un-adapted home.

“Construction began last year and it was a pleasure to lay a date stone to commemorate the beginning of construction.

“With an ageing population, which is particularly the case in Wiltshire, it is vital to ensure security in retirement with the safeguards of protected pensions, additional health support and that we have warm, modern homes for people to live in.”

The development will offer low maintenance apartments which are overseen by a house manager who ensure the smooth-running of the development, as well as a security entrance system, plus 24-hour emergency call points.

Kim Caldwell, regional sales and marketing director for McCarthy and Stone Southern, added: “We were delighted that Michelle Donelan MP was able to take the time out of her busy schedule to visit our exciting new development, and we look forward to welcoming retirees in Chippenham and the surrounding area to take a look around.”
