STAFF at a specialist mobility equipment showroom in Pinkney are delighted after they were commended for their exceptional customer service at the Motability Dealership awards.

Optimum Mobility, based in Pinkney Park near Sherston, was commended in the Motability small fleet dealership category for the way they approached and sold specialist equipment such as scooters, powerchairs and wheelchairs to disabled customers.

Owner Andrew Taylor said: "We won an award through the Motability scheme which is run nationwide and they are red hot on customer service, as it is what drives them, so to be given a commendation as a small business in this sector and to score 9.7/10 is amazing.

"Motability have just been down here to give us the award and they took us out for a nice meal. The two chaps were quite bemused about how we manage to run the business in such a rural area though."

The 51-year-old, who has been running the showroom for three years, said that although the work can be quite demanding, the end result of supporting someone is worth it.

He said: "It can be quite demanding sometimes as we deal with people with severe disabilities but we are able to help them spend the extra money from the government on things to help with their needs and make things easier."

Tim Newbery, manufacturer and dealer services director of Motability Operations Ltd, added: “Delivering exceptional service to our customers is one of the key objectives of the Motability powered wheelchair and scooter scheme. We have made a number of enhancements and improvements to the service our customers enjoy, and it is fantastic to see Optimum Mobility continuing to support our commitment to excellence. Congratulations on the highly commended award.”
