PARALYMPIAN Stephanie Millward could have missed out on important information about her MBE after post in her name was being delivered to the wrong address.

The swimmer, who won five medals at the recent Rio Paralympics, was left dumbstruck when she discovered that dozens of letters had been delivered to incorrect addresses including Peter Gabriel's studio in Box over the last couple of months due to a mistake on her redirection application.

Luckily for her, staff at Real World Studios got in touch with Millward through Facebook after stumbling upon a letter containing information about the swimmer's prestigious New Year Honour for services to swimming.

She said: "One of Peter Gabriel's employees sent me a message through Facebook, which was quite handy, to say they had received a letter about my MBE telling me when and where to collect it and what I needed to wear etcetera so it was quite important!

"When I went to pick the letter up she said they receive a lot of junk mail but thankfully it has all been sorted now - touch wood!"

After collecting the letter, the Paralympian realised that she had noted down one of the letters wrong in her postcode and as a result believes she might have missed out on big televised events and award ceremonies.

"I think I have missed quite a few important letters and things like the Pride of Britain awards, which lots of Paralympians were invited to," Millward said. "There is also one at the end of January and apparently Prince Charles is inviting quite a lot of people but I would not have heard about it."

The 35-year-old, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis aged 17, has said she will now double check everything following the mishap.

A spokesman at Real World Studios said: "Due to an addressing error on the envelope, Stephanie’s letter with information and directions for collecting her MBE arrived at Real World Studios by mistake.

"We contacted Stephanie and fortunately, she was able able to come down and collect her letter which also meant that we had the pleasure of meeting her. Real World wishes her all the best on her fantastic achievements."
