STAFF at Christian Malford Primary School have been left delighted after a recent Ofsted report rated the school as Good and recognised their hard work and improvement over the last three years.

The school was previously rated as Requires Improvement following an inspection in December, 2013, before it became an academy as part of the Diocese of Bristol Academy Trust.

Since then the school has continued to improve, and following the latest inspection on November 23, 2016, found to have improved across all areas including the quality of teaching, development of children and effectiveness of leadership.

Jill Rowe, executive principal of Christian Malford Primary School, said: “The hard work and commitment of all our staff, the local board, pupils and the support from parents and the local community has made this happen.

“The last three years have seen many changes within the school and the decisions and actions which have been taken have been recognised by Ofsted. This puts us in a very strong and secure position for the future.”

The report highlights that since the appointment of Mrs Rowe the school has “achieved stability and gained a clear sense of purpose” and that leadership and management have the “confidence of parents and staff”.

Other points of improvement include pupils making good progress, especially in English and maths, safeguarding is good and that pupils are well behaved, and they are “happy, confident learners”.

Areas for the school to improve on include “the quality of phonics teaching so that pupils are able to use their phonic knowledge effectively in their reading” and that teacher challenge pupils to “understand and question what they are reading to deepen their comprehension skills”.
