A DEVIZES wife who attacked her husband of 34 years after he said he fancied another woman has been given a six-month conditional discharge.
Eleanor Ellis, 52, of Spaniels Bridge, pleaded guilty to assaulting her husband, Colin, on November 3 at their home.
North West Wiltshire Magistrates’ Court last Thursday heard that neighbours reported seeing Mr Ellis with scratches to his chin and called the police.
It was claimed that Mrs Ellis attacked her husband after he admitted to fancying another woman and that “alcohol was an aggravating feature of this offence”, according to prosecutor Michelle Hewitt.
Defending, Wayne Hardy said: “He didn’t want her arrested.”
Ellis was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £85 in costs.
Judge Simon Cooper said: “This was an emotional outburst down to difficulties in the marriage but quite frankly you could have been cautioned.”
