ONE of Wiltshire's best loved 10k races, which sold out in just seven hours, will raise thousands of pounds for a village school near Devizes.

Organisers of the Bromham Pudding Run, which raises funds for St Nicholas primary school, Bromham, started a waiting list in case people with a ticket get ill or injured before the race on December 4 but even this is now full.

Victoria Cummings said: "The race sold out in seven hours which is a pudding run record. It is a popular 10K for serious runners because they can achieve best performance times for the two lap flat race and it has got a friendly atmosphere, lots of marshals and a scenic route with views of Roundway Hill.

"There is a waiting list for running the race but this is now full to entrants. However, if something has gone wrong in training, a participant has picked up an injury there will be an opportunity two weeks before race day to transfer places.

"The race finishes in the Bromham Social Centre so there are good facilities available and a chance for runners to buy hot drinks and bacon rolls. All finishers also receive a pudding.

"The Pudding Run is really important to St Nicholas's school as it is a community event and the main annual fundraiser for the school. We think it's really well organised by the PTA and volunteers, one person commented in runners world "other races could learn an awful lot from the organisation of this race. Faultless.

"The money raised from the event is spent across the school from subsidising trips such as school swimming and visits, much needed IT equipment, funding work to the school building and extra curricular activities such as the school disco."

The race starts at 11am and there is plenty of parking nearby.
