BEER lovers have given a boost to a Devizes nursery that looks after children with learning difficulties and medical problems.

A cheque for £700 was presented to Devizes Opportunity Centre by Devizes Beer Festival organisers after hundreds of people flocked to The Wharf back in July for a day of drinking and good music.

But it was those who did not drink quite as much as they expected who boosted the fundraising for the nursery in Bellvue Road, Devizes. At the end of the day people gave back tokens for beer they had not used and organisers tallied these up and turned it back into cash.

Beer festival organisers Don Jones, David Rapley and David Hyde visited the centre, which looks after children aged from nought to five with a wide range of learning and medical issues, to present the cheque to centre bursar Morag Peltonen.

Mr Jones said: "We were delighted to once again be able to support the opportunity centre. It does a fantastic job."
