IT was best foot forward from staff at housing association GreenSquare, as they took part in a charity walk to celebrate the company’s 150th anniversary and raise money for a Chippenham charity.

Twenty-five members of staff left the company’s Chippenham office, located on Methuen Park, last Wednesday (October 19) and took part in a six-mile walk to Corsham and back again.

A total of £750 was raised from the event, which will go towards charity Doorway that has a drop-in centre in Chippenham for those who are homeless or have problems to acquire or maintain a tenancy.

Howard Toplis, GreenSquare’s chief executive, said: “This is a really big year for us and an opportunity to shine a spotlight on GreenSquare’s work, which has come a long way since our beginnings 150 years ago.

“The Big 150 celebration walk is a good chance to raise awareness of all the great work that GreenSquare does across all the communities where we have homes, while also raising money for a very worthy cause.”

Founded in 1866, GreenSquare owns and manages nearly 12,000 across Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, and develops a range of new homes for rent, shared ownership, and sale, and provides housing management, care and support, and commercial property services.

Staff from all three areas will be walking a combined distance of 150-miles.
