BOYS from a Calne school showed their talent for running and swimming when they took all three top places in their age category in a biathlon event. A total of 30 boys and girls from St Margaret’s Preparatory School took part in the British Schools’ Modern Biathlon regional qualification round when the school played joint hosts to the contest, alongside its sister school, St Mary’s, Calne.

In the U11s category St Margaret’s pupils Mickey, Jonty and Theo finished first, second and third after their times for running 800 metres and swimming 50 metres were added together.

In the U12 section another Theo from St Margaret’s finished second, while Alistair came second in the U10s.

A total of 104 children from 13 different schools including: St Mary’s; Devizes School; St Francis, Pewsey; Lavington School; Wansdyke, Devizes and Pinewood near Swindon, took part in age groups from U10 to U14.
