THE LEAD singer and songwriter of a Malmesbury-based rock band will be facing the clippers before a gig to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Ellie Pointing, of Ells and the Southern Wild, will lose her long brown locks on October 28, before taking to the stage with her band at The Vaults in Cirencester.

Miss Pointing said: "It would mean a lot to me if local people can get behind this event. Cancer is an illness that affects many people, and it's such a tough thing to go through, so I feel that Macmillan is an important cause. When you’re facing something as big as cancer, it’s good to know there is somewhere you can turn to for support."

The singer-songwriter will donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust, which creates real hair wigs for children with cancer.
