POLICE are investigating a burglary after three men broke into a local supermarket in Corsham and stole cash boxes and spirits.

The three men stole the items and attempted to steal cigarettes from the Co-op Food store in Macie Drive by smashing a window at approximately 12.15am on Friday, October 7.

Officers pursued the men after witnesses reported that they left in a dark coloured Audi A3 which was located on the M4 near to junction 17, but later found it abandoned in Bristol.

A 26-year-old man from Bristol was arrested on suspicion of burglary but has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
