AFTER nearly 50 years in business, a Chippenham double-glazing firm is set to move its headquarters out of the town as part of an ambitious expansion plan.

DL Windows has put its Malmesbury Road showroom on the market after agreeing a deal to relocate to larger premises on the Porte Marsh Industrial Estate in Calne.

But bosses insist the company will retain a presence in Chippenham, as they eye up suitable town centre locations in which to open a new state-of-the-art show site before the year’s end.

And the company plans to open another showroom Yeovil, which is the home of sister company DL Group.

DL’s managing director Malcolm Lyus said: “As a result of our current success we have out-grown our current premises so we are now going to open a new pre-installation and showroom facility in Calne, which is currently being equipped and should be operational by the end of October this year.”

Mr Lyus, who helped guide Chippenham Town FC to Wembley as club chairman in 2000, said: “In conjunction with this, a new high-tech showroom containing all the last technology is due to open early January 2017 in Chippenham town centre.

“Also as part of the expansion a new showroom is being constructed in a purpose-built factory due to be installed at our Yeovil site commencing late November 2016.”

DL Windows has had its roots firmly established in Chippenham since it was formed in 1968 by Doug and Bet Lyus, who still live in the town today.

The family-run firm has been providing Chippenham and the surrounding area with windows, doors and conservatories ever since.

The current 4,222sq-ft Chippenham site is on the market with Kavanaghs of Melksham - www.kavanaghs.co.uk/properties/property/100891005167/
