STAFF at Heddington Pre-school and Forest School are brimming with pride after they received an outstanding Ofsted report.

The pre-school, in Church Road, is still celebrating receiving the highest rating in all four categories from the regulatory body after an inspection in July.

Manager Leanne Watson, who is thrilled with the report, said: "The parents are very pleased. A lot of them gave feedback to the Ofsted inspector and the parents we have spoken to believe we deserve it.

"We think the forest school has really added to us achieving outstanding in all areas because there are lots of outdoor experiences for the children which the Ofsted inspector witnessed and said it was very enriching for them."

The report states that the leaders of the pre-school drive improvement in the children highly successfully and that the committee provides excellent support to the development of the manager and their staff through funded qualifications.

Inspector Rosemary Davies said: "The manager and staff use their qualifications extremely well to assess children and plan highly challenging activities. They are adept at following children's interests and extend play to excite children's imaginations.

"In the 'forest school' areas, for instance, staff build on traditional rhymes and tales so children work out how to create traps for the 'big bad wolf' and make signs indicating that it must not climb trees."
