STAFF at Avon Court Care Home in Chippenham raised £470 for the Alzheimer’s Society by hosting a charity car wash.

Home manager Linda Watts, 35, said: “We started promoting our fundraising about a month ago. We chose to support the Alzheimer’s Society because we care for a lot of residents who are directly affected by Alzheimer’s.

“We’ve had a lovely reaction from residents; they love seeing the staff get involved in events like this.

“We did about 15 cars, the weather was lovely and it was a good time.”

Activity co-ordinators, Leila Garaway and Lynda Neate, said: “We see the effects of Alzheimer’s every day and it’s important to us to do our bit to help.

“It’s another way of raising money for a good cause.”

Also involved in making the event a success were team leader Tracy Charles, catering manger Francis Villamin and maintenance operative Simon Holly.

The staff at Avon Court plan to hold more fundraising events for the Alzheimer’s Society in future.

Avon Court, which has 60 residents, offers a range of care from nursing and residential to dementia and palliative care.
