FOOD fans are being treated to another event showcasing the very best of local food and drink producers at Calne's Festival of Food and Drink.

With a food market, street food stalls, a beer festival, courtesy of Box Steam Brewery, and an hour-long demonstration from Masterchef semi-finalist Dean Westcar, the event at the town hall on Saturday is set to tingle a few tastebuds.

Robert Merrick, chairman of the Calne Festival of Food and Drink has been putting the final touches to the programme and said this year's festival will be the best yet.

"Lots and lots of people have registered their interest this year and it will be a much bigger and better show than before. It has really grown since its inception and we have had many more people approach us early about taking part. Dean has been out of this world too and he said yes immediately after we asked him. He has been on board from the very beginning and we are looking forward to working with him."

Baking fans will have a chance to learn how to decorate cupcakes with the owners of the Flying Pig Cake Emporium while Culinary Capers cook up a storm with their comedy inspired cooking demonstration.

Mr Merrick added: "We also have an acrobatic vegetable thrower coming who does mostly children's stuff but he does a lot of vegetable throwing so we are quite looking forward to him coming and seeing what he can do!"

Musicians including a Peruvian pan pipe band will also be providing the soundtrack for the food-filled and free day which will take place between 10.30am-4pm.
