A FAMILY with a long tradition of entering baby shows is celebrating after little Hunter Borthwick took top prize in the Devizes show.

Organiser Jeannette Von Berg was delighted with the turnout for the Mayor's Baby Show at the Corn Exchange yesterday and paid tribute to former Mayor Pete Smith who helped revive it after it was dropped from the carnival calendar.

Mr Smith, 67, died on August 20 after suffering a heart attack.

She said: "Pete was very supportive of us." Mayor Jane Burton and town and Wiltshire councillor Sue Evans helped with the judging.

Hunter, aged four months, was also winner of the 0-6 month category, with Dorothy Webb second and Willow Green third. Charlie Roker won the six to 12 month group with Tillie Rose Tyson second and Sophia Rose Bailey third.

Sophia Dixon won the 12 to 18 month category with Wilfred Henly second and Kobey Bryant third.

Hunter, Charlie and Sophia then went head to head to be named the overall winner.

His mum Victoria Amor, 32, of Westview Crescent, Devizes, said: "Baby shows are a family tradition with us. We have been entering since my son won one in Andover 15 years ago."

Dad Marc Borthwick, 26, was also delighted.
