A RACING driver has been flown to hospital today following a crash at the Castle Combe Circuit.
Roy Bennett suffered a crash in the second of the day’s three Superkart races after it’s believed his engine seized on the approach to Quarry corner just before 2pm.
The driver, from Brookthorpe, had to be cut out of the wreckage of his vehicle and was taken to the track's medical centre before being airlifted to hospital in Bristol with head injuries. His condition is not yet known.
In the day’s first Superkart race, driver Luke Plain was driven to hospital after suffering suspected concussion.
It’s the first time in three years that the Superkarts have raced at the 1.85 mile track.
