THE INSPIRATIONAL couple from Luckington, who have raised more than £74,800 so far for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity by cycling from London to Copenhagen, have been shortlisted in the annual JustGiving awards.

Emmy Collett, who was diagnosed with an incurable form of thyroid cancer in March and her fiancee Jake Coates, are one of three groups to be shortlisted for the Fundraising Team of the Year after completing the 2000km route last month.

Dr Coates said: "We are totally overwhelmed to be nominated for such an award. There are some awesomely humbling and utterly inspirational stories and nominees and to even be considered as being among them is an absolute honour. Thank you to everyone who continues to support, donate, nominate and share our story. We wouldn't be anywhere without you!

"Emmys motto of smile, love and be kind seems to be more poignant than ever in these troubled times that we live in and we could all learn a thing or two from her positivity and selflessness."

The couple have now set their sights on reaching the 75 per cent mark of their fundraising target before their wedding on Saturday, September 3.
