A MOTHER of four from Pewsey has just become the latest person to brave the shave for Macmillan Cancer Support, raising nearly £200 in the process.

Clare Bosson, 34, of Broomsgrove, Pewsey, decided to have her head shaved by her friend Gemma Garnett in Oare village hall on Thursday (August 25) to raise money for the popular charity.

Mrs Bosson said: “When I lived in Seend, my neighbour had cancer and the support he got from Macmillan was fantastic, they also helped the family a lot after he died, so I decided to give something back to them. I sorted myself out and kept myself composed during it, I think my friend who was shaving my hair was more nervous than I was.”

The full-time mother of four went to the village hall with a few people there to watch, including her children.

“My kids said that I wasn’t their mummy anymore and asked where my wig was. We had quite a few people come along to watch. The family of my neighbour weren’t there because they were away. I might do it again, it was really good and different and there was quite a lot of support there for me. I would say to people who may be considering it that they shouldn’t be scared, it’s not really a scary thing to do,” Mrs Bosson added.

As well as the money raised from the shave, Mrs Bosson will also be making use of the hair by donating it to the Little Princess Trust.

“You can donate the hair that they shave off to the Little Princess Trust which uses it to make wigs for children suffering from hair loss, so I will send it off and hopefully they will be able to use it. My fundraising page is still open to anyone who wishes to donate,” she said.
