MONEY to boost Julia's House is coming in thick and fast with everything from sponsored walks and golf days to raffles and music nights boosting the call.

Among the latest donations for the charity, which has started work on a new children's hospice in Devizes, is £500 from Slade House Social Club which joined forces with residents and friends of Devizes Almshouses to raise £500 with a raffle.

On Saturday (13) a music night at the George and Dragon Pub, Potterne will boost funds when band Heartbeat plays 60s and 70s music. Money raised will be split between Julia's House and Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Chippenham Golf Club is organising a golf day on the Bank Holiday Monday, August 29, to raise money for the cause. Organiser Derek Angel said: "I think it is a wonderful charity and we are delighted to support it."

Ged Montgomery from Julia's House said: "We are very grateful to Derek for his support in arranging the golf day. It should be a fantastic event."

Chippenham Rotary Club is also getting behind the appeal by organising a sponsored walk in Corsham Park on September 4, starting at 11am. People will have the choice of a one mile or a 4.5 mile route. Entry costs £5 and 75 per cent of the profits will go towards the Gazette's 200 appeal to raise £100,000 in 2016.

The remaining 25 per cent will go to Bath Cats & Dogs Home. To find out more about the walk ring 01249 656172 or email enquiries@chippenhamrotary.org

Youngsters, including those from Wiltshire, who are being helped by Julia's House at its Dorset hospice are able to keep up to date with games and internet browsing thanks to a donation of computer tables from Kaarbon Tech from Chirstchurch.

Lead nurse Louise McKenna said: "“Any technology that can help us interact and play with our children is fabulous. Many of our children have difficulty communicating and we use tablets with apps for communication. We have a busy summer coming up with many children coming into the hospice for respite care.”

Mark Entwistle from Kaarbon Tech said: “We are pleased to be able to support - in this small way - the care provided to children and their families by Julia’s House. I hope the tablets will help children to enjoy games, encourage interaction and socialise whilst they are receiving respite care at Julia’s House.”
