PHOTOGRAPHERS from all corners of the county and beyond have continued to be inspired by Wiltshire’s landscape, if the latest entries to VisitWiltshire’s annual photograph competition are anything to go by.

Launched at the beginning of May, aspiring photographers and those with some professional experience under their belts have been busy capturing the best scenes around the county in a bid to impress the competition’s judges.

Those entering the competition can enter up to five photographs each month right through until the deadline at the end of September.

Marcello Castro from Swindon has captured some colourful views of The Ridgeway and Hackpen Hill as well as a carpet of bluebells in West Woods in Marlborough.

Bill Riley from Bradford on Avon has also submitted five images from his travels around the country, this month featuring Ilford Bridge and Manor, the Tithe Barn in Bradford on Avon, Longleat House and a street scene from Devizes along with The Black Knights making a descent at Larkhill.

Peter Daltrey from Devizes captured an eerie shot of the Winter Stone at Avebury, as well as a colourful photograph of two British icons side by side in their red-painted glory. An ominous cloud formation over Stonehenge also features among his submissions as well as an enquiring flock of sheep at Windmill Hill.

Entering the contest from a little further afield, Richard Bond from Hayling Island in Hampshire has also been inspired by the beauty of the county during his visits here. Among his submissions are Lackock Abbey, Lacock Church and the nearby bakery.

Zara Elkins from Dilton Marsh got up close and personal with the Westbury White Horse with her photographs, capturing some more unusual angles of the landmark, as well as looking toward the Westbury cement factory before its looming demolition.

There is still time for other photographers to submit their entries to the competition. To be in with a chance of winning, the photos should capture the essence of life in Wiltshire, its people and landscape, and tie in with any of VisitWiltshire's four ‘Timeless’ themes. These are:

• Timeless Wonders: including Stonehenge, Avebury, Salisbury Cathedral, the Kennet & Avon Canal and Wiltshire’s White Horses

• Timeless Places: including market towns, villages and other attractions

• Timeless Pleasures: including shopping, food and drink, festivals & events, arts & entertainment

• Timeless Nature: including big skies, rolling hills, flora and fauna

There will be one first prize of a £300 voucher for the best photograph overall, plus two runners up prizes of a £50 voucher each.
