TV valuation expert Marc Allum of BBC Antiques Roadshow and his wife Lisa Lloyd – also a specialist on the show – are backing a special Julian House’s charity shop valuation day on Saturday.

Allum will be hand at the Julian House charity shop at 51-52 Market Place, Chippenham, on Saturday with valuations starting from 11am.

Visitors can bring in any objects and artefacts for advice and valuation by Allum, who lives in Chippenham.

Each item will cost £2 to be valued with all proceeds going to the work carried out by Julian House. Valuations start from 11am at 51-52 Market Place, Chippenham SN15 3HU.

Refreshments priced at £1 will be available on entry into the shop.

Linda Raud, manager at Julian House’s Chippenham shop, says: “We are delighted that Marc and Lisa are prepared to support Julian House by giving up their valuable time on a Saturday to help raise vital funds for the charity.

"We hope that lots of people come on the day to have their family heirlooms valued.”

Allum said: “In a world where help and understanding can go a long way to making people with distinct disadvantages lead a better life, one must always help if possible.

“Supporting homelessness was a great cause for my late father and like to continue this support in his memory. We get asked to work for many charitable causes but also like to support local and Wiltshire based charities. Hence our appearance at the Julian House Chippenham charity shop on Saturday - it's a pleasure to assist.”

Julian House provides over 100 beds across its emergency hostel and various supported housing projects and direct support to over 220 vulnerable and often highly marginalised individuals.

In Wiltshire, Julian House has a charity shop in Chippenham and a social enterprise Bike Workshop and Skills Hub in Trowbridge which support the homeless and unemployed by running a Build-a-Bike training scheme and a programme of skills, training, work experience and job coaching.

Allum has been a miscellaneous specialist on the BBC Antiques Roadshow since 1998 and has appeared on numerous television and radio programmes while Lisa Lloyd has been a specialist on the BBC Antiques Roadshow for four years. She runs a successful antiques and interior design business as well as writing for magazines.
