PUPILS from Devizes School’s Year 11 dressed in their finest and danced the night away at their end of school prom.

Arriving in a wide variety of extravagant cars and carriages, the Year 11s pulled out all the stops to look their best for their final school event on Friday at Cumberwell Park in Bradford on Avon.

Tom Strickland, assistant head of Devizes School, said: “We had the prom at the golf course in Bradford which gave everyone the chance to enjoy their limo ride. The transport was fantastic. There were vintage buses, a modern and vintage fire engine and there was even a Ferrari and a Bentley. It was very impressive. Most of the Year 11 group were there and they all looked fantastic. Some of the girls had dresses made especially for the evening, and one girl was wearing Jimmy Choos. I don’t really know much about shoes but they looked very good.”

The pupils were treated to a night of food, dancing and celebration to mark the end of their five years at the school.

“There was a buffet and a photo booth as well as formal portraits. The organising committee even gave out awards to people who were voted in the ‘most likely to’ categories. To close the evening we had a disco and some fireworks. I was really impressed at everyone’s dancing, they were really good,” added Mr Strickland.

Mr Strickland went on to say how the pupils of Year 11 will be missed by the school, dubbing them ‘Team 11’ due to the friendly nature and co-operation they have shown in their time at the school.

“It is a little lame joke I have made. They have all looked after each other and it was just great to see. It was a very emotional evening, and our final assembly was also very emotional when we gave out the leavers' hoodies. The whole evening was a success,” Mr Strickland said.
