I DECIDED to attend Stonehenge this year to witness summer solstice after missing sunrise from summer solstice last year.

I wanted to experience the atmosphere people have only talked about at Stonehenge. As a result, I wanted to capture the moment.

Therefore, I took my camera gear along at 2am and waited for sunrise.

The crowds came and the druids performed their annual celebrations for the rising of the sun on the longest day.

It was moments before sunrise that the clouds on the horizon drifted away and a large patch of clearing sky had come in our direction.

The rising sun created a plethora of colours creating artistic clouds.

Before long, an area along the tree skyline began to brighten and then diamonds of sunlight began to emerge and crowds roared to the celebration of the sun rising over Stonehenge. A completely magical experience.
