THINGS are about to get a little bit stranger at Corsham Secondary School as it prepares to perform Phillip Pullman's Frankenstein next week (June 27-29).

With just days remaining before their big debut, pupils and organisers are putting the finishing touches to the production, including transforming its 'S' block into a giant spider web.

The cast, ranging from Year 7's to sixth formers, will make their curtain call next Monday from 7pm, the day after at the same time and then a matinee show for Year 6 pupils from Corsham Primary School on Wednesday.

Head of Drama Charlotte Dehram said: "I cannot wait for it and although some of the cast are nervous, they are really looking forward to it.

"I am so impressed with everyone's attitude and commitment as this is quite a challenging play but they have handled it so responsibly. I really cannot fault them, they have been brilliant.

"This year we wanted to do a play rather than a musical and do something rather different and this fits the bill. Phillip Pullman's version is more student friendly, humourous and less gory which is good."

Two sixth formers have made all the costumes for the production with another putting together the programmes and promoting the show on social media.

"We have a three-hour long rehearsal on Saturday before a full day of preparations on Monday. There are a lot of talented youngsters in this play and I am sure they will rise to the occasion and do themselves proud."
