A £25,000 cheque was presented to Dorothy House Hospice Care today (April 28) by Chippenham Borough Lands Charity (CBLC).

The grant will go towards providing services to patients with life-limiting illness, their families and carers in Chippenham, helping the hospice in its aim to provide the best quality of life for patients.

Dorothy House Chief Executive, John Davies: “We are delighted to be awarded such a generous grant from Chippenham Borough Lands Charity (CBLC). With its support for the hospice’s services this year, CBLC has helped play a part in ensuring the future of Dorothy House Hospice Care’s work for the people of Chippenham.”

The CBLC provides grants for the benefits to those in the parish of Chippenham including the relief of the elderly, sick, disabled and poor and assisting in the provision of recreation, education and other charitable purposes.

Chippenham Borough Lands Charity Chief Executive, Phil Tansley: “Supporting palliative care services for the people of Chippenham goes to the heart of our purpose here at Chippenham Borough Lands Charity. We have supported Dorothy House Hospice Care for many years but in this, the hospice’s 40th year, we are delighted to be able to award a significant grant towards the costs of both the Nurse Specialist and Hospice at Home services provided for the people of Chippenham.”

Dorothy House Hospice Care covers a large area of some 700sq miles including Chippenham and is continuously reliant on support from its local communities, either financially, through volunteering or awareness-raising.
