A team from an environmental consultancy in Malmesbury ran the Romsey Relay Marathon on Sunday to raise money for international development charity, Send a Cow.

ACD Environmental has set themselves a number of challenges for Send a Cow, the first being the relay marathon which will be followed with the Crudwell 24 hour bike ride in June.

The team have been running at lunchtimes and cycling to and from work in an effort to prepare for their challenges.

Helen Selwyn, Director and Principal Landscape Architect at ACD Environmental, said: “We all try to keep ourselves fit and active and the relay and endurance challenges, which we have set ourselves this year, will see us pushed to the limits of what we are each capable of.

“But however hard the task, we will be driven on by the fact we will be helping some of Africa’s poorest people to improve their lives.

“It makes me proud to know that our fundraising will allow Send a Cow’s work to continue, and help them reach more communities.”

Set up by West Country dairy farmers in 1988, Send a Cow works with poor communities in seven African countries to provide smallholder farms with training, tools, seeds and livestock.

Sophie Porfirio, Corporate Partnership Manager at Send a Cow, said: “We’re extremely grateful to ACD Environmental for taking on this challenge in support of Send a Cow.

“Taking part in a challenge like this is no mean feat – it requires training, discipline and commitment. We wish them the best of luck and hope they have a fantastic experience.”
