AN upmarket car boot sale that is a major fundraiser for the Devizes committee of Cancer Research UK will for the first time have a two tier system for both buyers and sellers.

The sale in the grounds of a country house at Stert, near Devizes always attracts a large number of people looking for a classy bargain.

This year the event on May 14 will be limited to just 100 pitches so organisers have introduced an early bird system of booking. For those who book before May 7 they will pay £25, the same as last year, but for those who book after the fee will be £40.

People selling will be able to start setting up stall from 6.30am. The entry fee for buyers will be £5 from 8.30am but for those who cannot wait they will be able to arrive from 7.30am but they will have to pay £10 per car for the privilege.

Committee chairman Sue Tovey said: "The sale has become the committee’s main fundraiser for the benefit of cancer research and has raised from £4,000 to £5,500 each year for the last 5 years. This is due to the high quality of goods on sale and buyers all hoping to find a good bargain.

"We hope to see as many buyers as in past years because, not only is it a chance to but items rarely seen at car boot sales, but it is a great way to donate to Cancer Research helping to find a cure for an illness that touches one in three of our lives."

As well as the stalls there will be food and drink on sale and toilets, provided by Wiltshire Waste, on site.

Stert Church will be open selling tea, coffee and home-made cakes
