A WOMAN in her 50s was taken to hospital suffering head injuries following a crash on the M4 this morning.
The incident happened at 9.30am between Junction 16 and 17 of the M4 heading westbound near Royal Wootton Bassett, following a crash between a Fiat 500 and a van.
Police and paramedics in two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle attended, with the woman – whose injuries are not thought to be serious – being taken by ambulance to Bristol Royal Infirmary.
Four other people were assessed by paramedics for minor injuries.
Two lanes were closed while the damaged vehicles were removed.
The was scene cleared by 11.45am.
At one point traffic was reported to be queuing for four miles after the crash.
All lanes have been now re-opened.
