A man appeared in court today charged with the murder of Becky Godden-Edwards.
Taxi driver Christopher Halliwell, 52, of Swindon, appeared at Bristol Crown Court via a video link.
The father-of-three sat in silence during the brief hearing and spoke only to confirm his name.
He was not asked to enter a plea, which will take place at a later hearing.
The charge was brought on Wednesday and due to the severity of the offence the case has come quickly to court.
Becky was last seen in Bristol on December 27, 2002.
Her remains were found eight years later in a field in Eastleach, Gloucestershire.
She would have been 34 on Monday.
Becky's mother Karen Edwards was among a number of family members at the hearing.
Halliwell was remanded in custody until the plea hearing.
